Duolingo is the Key to Learning a New Language

If you weren’t paying attention during Spanish class, don’t worry you now have Duolingo! This is a a free learning language app that has a variety of languages that you can learn at your own speed. If you are thinking about learning a new language or interested in practice a language you already know, this is a wonderful way to do it. In my opinion it mirrors Rosetta Stone but the big difference is, Duolingo is free.

Another reason why Duolingo is a win-win app is because it serves as a multi-purpose app. Customers get to learn a foreign language for free while helping translate texts.

Duolingo’s founder, Louis von Ahn invented CAPTCHA – a way of letting humans prove that they are humans and not an automated program exploiting a website. It does so by presenting them with a task that only humans can reliably solve: Transcribing an image to a text. After creating CAPTCHA, he came up with an idea to better use the time that people spend typing in captchas: reCAPTCHA. It uses humans to help transcribe old scanned books where automatic recognition fails at about 30% of the content.

If you are itching to learn a new language, make sure to check out Duolingo. It offers a variety of languages that includes Latin American Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Danish, Irish and Swedish courses for English speakers, as well as American English for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Hungarian, Romanian, Japanese, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean and Czech speakers.
